Living Coast

 
 
 
 
 
The Living Coast nature center operates right next to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service building in Chula Vista.  The beginning takes the viewer through a great aquarium, followed by a touch pool of rays and guitar fish.  There's also a larger, deeper tank with sharks and if you angle yourself just right (and avoid attention) you can pet a few doral fins! The last part of the center features birds and raptors that are native to Southern California.  We came right at feeding time so we got to see a lot of dead white mice strewn about the cages. I didn't get very good pictures here because everything was either super dark or had major glare due to the water reflections. I also may have been just a bit preoccupied by my excitement over the abundance of wildlife . . .
