Gas Station, Death Valley

For our trip down to California we drove John's 1994 Acura which has 182 thousand miles on it. Not a good idea. Once we left the boundaries of Primm, the air conditioning stopped working and the engine started heating up fast. We drove slowly through the 100+ degree heat of Death Valley sweating our souls out of our pores. We stopped at the first gas station we could find, which wasn't until right at the end of Death Valley, and filled up with coolant. Turns out there is a leak in the radiator.

Our trip back wasn't as bad, although the engine did start over heating again. We had a good shuffle going on the I-pod. Don't you love it when you rediscover songs that way? We also listened to the Splendid Table, This American Life, and short stories by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The best was Bernice Bobs Her Hair. It's original Mean Girls, Jazz Age style!

Image #1 is for Jen - Look I found Magda's shoe!
